Location: Telford, Shropshire

Salary: A GBP 50,000 to GBP 60,000 per annum + Car Allowance/Company Vehicle + Bonus + Benefits

Based in central Telford and ideally positioned to support our growing customer base throughout the region.

Due to continued organic growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced and commercially driven Electrical Estimating Manager to join our leadership team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and customer-focused professional with extensive electrical knowledge and commercial expertise. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and delivering accurate, competitive quotations for a wide range of electrical projects.

You will be responsible for interpreting client specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates, and developing long-term partnerships with both existing and new customers across the Midlands.

Regular travel throughout the Midlands will be required to meet clients, survey projects, and identify opportunities for business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating function for commercial and industrial electrical installation projects.
  • Review tender documentation, specifications, and technical drawings to prepare accurate quotations and cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and customer meetings to fully understand project requirements.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with both new and existing clients.
  • Manage and expand an established portfolio of electrical customers across the Midlands.
  • Identify and secure new project opportunities through proactive business development.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, take-offs, pricing schedules, and proposal documentation.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Support value engineering initiatives and provide commercial input during pre-construction stages.
  • Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure a smooth handover of awarded projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team to support continued business growth.

About You

We are seeking an ambitious and commercially aware individual who combines strong technical expertise with excellent customer relationship management skills.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in an Electrical Estimating Manager, Senior Electrical Estimator, or Technical Sales/Estimating role.
  • Strong electrical knowledge with a sound understanding of electrical installations, systems, and regulations.
  • Good mechanical awareness and the ability to understand multi-disciplinary project requirements.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical specifications and convert requirements into detailed quotations and proposals.
  • Experience managing customer accounts and developing long-term client relationships.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and secure profitable opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience using estimating software such as EES, Amtech, or similar platforms.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing teams.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Existing network or portfolio of electrical industry contacts and clients.
  • Experience within commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of value engineering.
