Senior / Electrical Estimator | Telford | Competitive Salary + Package

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior / Electrical Estimator to join an established M&E contractor based in Telford.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong electrical estimating background who can interpret project briefs and develop accurate Design & Build estimates. Experience in cost planning would also be a significant advantage.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to develop competitive and commercially sound tenders across a range of building services projects.

The Role

  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, project briefs, and tender documentation
  • Interpret project requirements and develop detailed Design & Build estimates
  • Carry out accurate quantity take-offs for electrical materials and equipment
  • Estimate project costs across labor, materials, plant, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Obtain, analyze, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
  • Identify project risks, exclusions, and potential cost-saving opportunities
  • Support cost planning during the pre-construction stages where required
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, suppliers, and contractors throughout the tender process
  • Attend site visits where required to understand project conditions and requirements
  • Assist with bid handovers to the project delivery team following successful tenders
  • Maintain estimating and cost databases and keep up to date with current market rates
  • Work to tender programmes and ensure submissions are completed accurately and within deadline

About You

We are looking for an experienced estimator with a strong understanding of electrical building services and installations.

You should have:

  • Previous experience within electrical estimating
  • The ability to interpret project briefs and produce Design & Build estimates
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and installations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Experience carrying out electrical quantity take-offs
  • Good knowledge of estimating software and spreadsheets, particularly Excel and estimating systems
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines

Cost planning experience would be a particular advantage.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates will ideally have either:

  • An Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related qualification

or

  • An electrical trade background combined with strong estimating experience

Experience estimating projects within construction, M&E, commercial, industrial, or residential environments will be considered.

Knowledge and experience of estimating and take-off software would also be advantageous.
