Electrical & Facilities Site Engineer - EV Charging/Renewables - Central London / M25 - Weekends Required
Salary: £40,000 (4-day week) or £50,000 (5-day week), both including Saturday & Sunday
Bonus: 20%
Vehicle + Benefits + 20% Bonus
About the Company
My client is a fast-growing EV charging network operator, going through a strong period of growth as they expand their DC charging footprint across the M25.
The Role
This is a broader Electrical/Facilities role, not a straight electrician position. You'll be responsible for the full day-to-day condition of a portfolio of charging sites: electrical fault-finding and diagnostics, but also the general upkeep that keeps a site looking and working properly, from emptying bins to cutting back hedges to dealing with graffiti. It's varied, hands-on, and comes with genuine scope to grow into leading a team as the portfolio expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of assigned sites: electrical fault-finding, general site presentation, and everything in between
- Attend site to investigate faults: isolate DC chargers safely, confirm the site is safe, then carry out fault finding and diagnostics
- Maintain the general appearance and cleanliness of each site: emptying bins, clearing litter, and keeping the charging bays and surrounding area presentable
- Manage vegetation and groundskeeping around chargers and site access, including cutting back hedges, trees, or overgrowth that blocks visibility, signage, or driver access
- Identify and remove graffiti or vandalism promptly, arranging further cleaning support where the issue is beyond a quick fix
- Spot and report wider facilities issues, damaged signage, broken fencing, potholed bays, faulty lighting, drainage problems, and either resolve directly or escalate to the right internal team or contractor
- Arrange and coordinate deep cleans or specialist facilities work with third-party contractors where required, and follow through to make sure it's completed to standard
- Liaise regularly with site landlords (e.g. pub operators/retail parks) and drivers, gathering insights and reporting back clearly to the Account Managers
- Speak directly with customers on site to understand issues, resolving them there and then wherever possible
- Undertake electrical inspections and reactive attendance for priority incidents, working with internal teams, charge point manufacturers and third-party suppliers
- Visit all assigned DC sites at least weekly to catch faults early and improve response times
- Carry out minor electrical repairs (e.g. MCB/RCD replacements) and reset equipment following safe isolation
- Raise, monitor and chase support cases with manufacturers and third parties through to resolution
- Provide weekend support for urgent operational issues
- As the portfolio grows, potential to take on responsibility for a small team of site engineers

What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Qualified electrician with a recognised UK electrical apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 electrotechnical qualification/NVQ
- Current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations qualification, commonly City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition, updated to the current amendment in force
- Experience in fault finding, safe isolation and basic electrical/electro-mechanical troubleshooting
- Comfortable and willing to carry out cleaning, waste removal, and vegetation management as a core, regular part of the role, not an occasional exception
- Able to prioritise across a mixed workload, electrical faults, customer issues, and site upkeep, on the same site visit
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Central London and the M25
- Strong communicator, comfortable liaising with landlords, customers and internal stakeholders
- Happy working both Saturday and Sunday as part of the week

Desirable
- Previous experience with EV charging equipment (AC or DC), though not essential
- Inspection and testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391-52 or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a facilities, service engineering or multi-site maintenance role
- Some prior supervisory or team-lead experience, or clear appetite to grow into it
