Purpose of the Role

Colas Ltd. are looking for 2 x Electrical Gangers (1x Nights and 1 x Days) to join the team based at our Hilton Park depot, WV11 2AT. You will supervise and lead a team of Highways Electricians, ensuring electrical maintenance and repair activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.

Working as part of our National Highways Area 9 Maintenance & Response contract, you will play an important role in maintaining the Strategic Road Network across the region. You will be responsible for coordinating your team, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality requirements, and supporting the effective delivery of electrical highways maintenance activities.

• A salary between £42,120 – £46,800 basic salary (dependent on experience)

Main Responsibilities

As an Electrical Ganger, your duties will include but not be limited to the following:

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate a team of Highways Electricians, ensuring work is planned and delivered safely and effectively.
• Organise gangs and allocate people, vehicles, plant, and equipment to meet operational requirements.
• Ensure all electrical works are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, company procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Take responsibility for the safety and welfare of team members, promoting a strong safety culture and zero tolerance of unsafe working practices.
• Carry out site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
• Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are suitable, available, and correctly maintained for the required activities.
• Complete and oversee relevant administrative records, including timesheets, maintenance check sheets, and drivers' logs.
• Liaise with subcontractors and ensure appropriate training, competency, and site information is in place.
• Support incident response and participate in the electrical call-out rota when required.
• Communicate operational issues effectively and act as a point of contact for the team on site.
• Support the management of team performance, training, and day-to-day people matters.
• Maintain a professional approach and positively represent the company at all times.
• Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role as required by the Electrical Supervisor.
