A leading engineering organisation delivering turnkey projects and engineering services within the water and wastewater sector are seeking an experienced Electrical & ICA Design Engineer to join their design team, and play a key role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions.

You will be responsible for coordinating designs and producing technical documentation and drawings that meet project specifications, applicable standards, and health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop design layouts that are cost-effective, practical to construct and commission, and fully aligned with project specifications.
  • Apply standard engineering practices and solutions wherever appropriate.
  • Provide technical estimates, input and feedback to support tender and proposal activities.
  • Work in accordance with established departmental procedures and processes, while contributing to their ongoing improvement.
  • Monitor and review processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain procedures that support the smooth and consistent operation of the engineering function.
  • Coordinate designs with other internal and external engineering disciplines to ensure an integrated approach across the project.
  • Maintain a strong customer-focused approach, recognising both external clients and internal teams as key stakeholders.
  • Maintain a personal development plan and actively support professional development.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for colleagues and project teams.
  • Identify opportunities to minimise waste across departmental activities.
  • Ensure environmental considerations are incorporated into engineering designs.
  • Ensure all designs fully comply with relevant health, safety, technical and regulatory requirements.

  • Understanding of the principles and processes associated with water and wastewater treatment.
  • Full membership of a relevant professional engineering institution.
  • HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline; a degree in an appropriate engineering discipline would be advantageous.
  • Proven ability to develop rationalised, practical and economical plant layouts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assimilate and interpret large volumes of technical information.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical proposals clearly, confidently and effectively.
  • Good computer literacy and proficiency with relevant engineering software.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
