Electrical Inspector (EICR Team) – 3 Month Contract

Location: 160 Tooley Street, London, SE1 2QH
Rate: £34.93 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3 Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
DBS: Standard DBS Required
Pay: Bi-Weekly

Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Inspector to join our dedicated Electrical Installation Condition Reporting (EICR) team. This role involves supervising contractor performance, inspecting electrical work, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory standards within a large social housing portfolio. The successful candidate will be instrumental in meeting electrical safety obligations, offering technical expertise, and ensuring quality across various electrical testing, inspection, and remedial programs. This initial 3-month contract offers the potential for a permanent position within a Local Authority, contingent on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise EICR contractors and assess the quality of electrical testing and remedial work.
  • Review and verify EICR certifications and related documentation.
  • Inspect completed electrical projects to ensure they meet regulatory and specification standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and adherence to compliance.
  • Support the implementation of electrical safety programs across housing properties.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations related to electrical installations.
  • Provide technical advice to managers, contractors, tenants, and leaseholders.
  • Identify defective workmanship and ensure necessary remedial actions are taken.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records and performance reports.
  • Support capital and planned maintenance programs.
  • Attend site meetings with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Investigate technical issues and offer solutions as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety legislation and procedures.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification (or equivalent).
  • Standard DBS Certificate.
  • Extensive experience in electrical inspections and testing.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
    • BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
    • Electrical Testing and Inspection Procedures
    • Electrical Safety Compliance
  • Experience in supervising contractors and reviewing certifications.
  • Experience in housing maintenance, compliance, or capital works environments.
  • Ability to identify non-compliant installations and substandard workmanship.
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and quality assurance capabilities.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience with AICO smoke alarm systems.
  • Experience in social housing.
  • Experience managing EICR programs within Local Authority or Housing Association properties.
  • Knowledge of housing compliance programs and resident safety requirements.

Additional Information

  • May need to attend sites outside normal working hours for urgent issues.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE and safety gear as necessary.
  • Occasional evening and weekend meetings may be required.
  • Ability to travel to various site locations as needed.
