Job Title
A leading UK renewable energy organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Lead to lead its electrical function, focusing on utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects.
Role Overview
You will set technical standards, lead electrical and commissioning activities, and work with senior leadership, project teams, subcontractors, and DNOs from design through to energisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the electrical and commissioning function.
- Set technical standards and act as the electrical technical authority.
- Manage DNO relationships, G99 testing, HV works, and grid energisation.
- Provide technical input across tenders, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Review electrical designs, SLDs, RAMS, specifications, and documentation.
- Oversee Solar PV and BESS commissioning, including SCADA and inverter systems.
- Develop electrical policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
- Support ISO accreditation and electrical compliance.
- Build and lead an in-house commissioning team.
- Provide technical support to site and project teams.

About You
You will be an experienced electrical professional with strong renewable energy experience, ideally across utility-scale Solar PV and BESS. You will have senior or lead-level experience, with strong knowledge of DNOs, HV systems, commissioning, and grid connections.
You will be confident leading teams, making technical decisions, and working with project, commercial, design, subcontractor, and DNO stakeholders.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installations or equivalent.
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), including Amendment 4.
- Solar PV installation qualification, such as City & Guilds 2922.
- City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent.
- Current ECS Gold Card.
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Full UK driving licence.
- 5+ years' electrical contracting experience within renewable energy.
- Strong utility-scale Solar PV and BESS construction and commissioning experience.
- Senior, lead, or management-level electrical experience.
- DNO, G99, HV, and grid energisation experience.
- Experience with RAMS, CDM, and subcontractor management.
- Working knowledge of SCADA, inverter communications, and monitoring systems.

Desirable
- HV Authorised Person (AP) qualification.
- IET Level 3 Award in Electrical Energy Storage Systems.
- NICEIC/ECA Approved Electrician status.
- HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy.
- PRINCE2 or equivalent.
- ISO/QMS experience.
- AutoCAD or ETAP experience.
