Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Hours: 4 on 4 off | Days Only | 12-hour shifts
Salary: Circa £46,000 per annum
Overtime: Time & ½ Monday–Saturday | Double Time Sundays

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business at their site in Preston.
This is a hands-on engineering position working across a busy manufacturing operation, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across automated production machinery and critical site equipment. You’ll be responsible for electrical fault finding and repairs, responding to breakdowns and ensuring equipment failures are resolved quickly and efficiently to minimise production downtime.
Alongside day-to-day maintenance, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in plant reliability, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement, including supporting condition-based monitoring and identifying root causes of recurring equipment failures.
This role would suit an electrically biased, multi-skilled engineer who enjoys fault finding and problem solving and is confident taking ownership of breakdowns within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive and planned electrical and mechanical maintenance across production machinery and site equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, responding quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Fault find, troubleshoot and repair automated manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain critical plant and site services including electrical power, compressed air, HVAC, steam/hot water generation and water systems.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and support improvements to plant reliability.
- Support the development and implementation of robust preventative maintenance schedules.
- Assist with condition-based monitoring techniques including vibration analysis, thermal imaging and oil analysis.
- Make maintenance decisions on plant, machinery and equipment to ensure failures are rectified efficiently.
- Source and identify replacement parts and equipment where required.
- Support and share technical knowledge with other members of the engineering team.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure engineering areas are kept safe, clean and organised.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, GMP, quality and engineering best practice.

You should have:
- A recognised electrical engineering qualification, ideally NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC or equivalent.
- A strong electrical bias with the ability to carry out electrical fault finding and repairs.
- Mechanical maintenance skills and the ability to support across both disciplines.
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of breakdowns.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety within an engineering environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering and production teams.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will be an electrically biased, multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with experience working within an automated manufacturing environment. Previous experience within FMCG, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food or another GMP-regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous, although engineers from other fast-paced manufacturing backgrounds will also be considered.
