Maintenance Engineer (Day Shift)

Northampton, NN5

4 on / 4 off Days | 6:00am - 6:00pm
£50k+ Overtime Available

A leading food manufacturing business is looking to recruit an electrically biased, multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent day shift basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
  • Fault find on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Work on high-speed production, packaging and processing equipment.
  • Ensure machinery operates safely, efficiently and reliably.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and update CMMS records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications and upgrades.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and health & safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Time-served Engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (Electrical or Mechanical).
  • Electrically biased with strong multi-skilled maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced FMCG or food production environment.
  • Strong fault-finding skills on PLC-controlled machinery.
  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must live within approximately 30 minutes of Northampton.

Interview Process

The interview will consist of a competency-based interview with the Maintenance Manager, followed by a short practical skills assessment conducted on-site.
