Electrical Maintenance Lecturer (Workshop)
Permanent
Location: the North East
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Are you an experienced electrical maintenance or electrical engineering professional looking to share your expertise with the next generation of tradespeople?
About the Role
As an Electrical Maintenance Lecturer, you'll deliver practical, workshop-based teaching to learners working towards their electrical qualifications. Working with a further education provider in the North East, you'll help students build the hands-on skills, technical knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in the industry.
You'll plan and deliver engaging sessions that combine theory with practical workshop activity, supporting learners at different stages of their development. If you haven't taught before, that's not a barrier: full training and ongoing support are available to help you move from industry into teaching.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering workshop-based lessons in electrical installation and maintenance.
- Demonstrating safe working practices and industry-standard techniques.
- Assessing learner progress and providing constructive, developmental feedback.
- Preparing learners for practical assessments and examinations.
- Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment, including tools and equipment.
- Keeping up to date with industry standards and developments in electrical practice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
