HyProMag Ltd is a UK-based clean technology company at the forefront of sustainable rare earth magnet recycling and production. Founded in 2018 and headquartered at Tyseley Energy Park in Birmingham, HyProMag commercialises the patented Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap (HPMS) technology, originally developed at the University of Birmingham.
The company recovers and recycles neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) magnets from end-of-life products, including electric vehicles, wind turbines, hard disk drives and industrial equipment, helping to create a low-carbon, circular supply chain for critical raw materials. Through its innovative technologies, HyProMag is supporting the transition to net zero while helping to strengthen the UK and Europe's secure supply of rare earth magnets for advanced manufacturing and clean energy technologies.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled, proactive and safety-conscious Electrical Maintenance Technician to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our production machinery, specialist equipment and site services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs, helping to minimise equipment downtime and maintain production efficiency. The role will also involve troubleshooting electrical and control systems and supporting the installation, testing and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.

Working closely with production, engineering and technical colleagues, the Electrical Maintenance Technician will play an important role in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and routine electrical maintenance on production machinery, specialist equipment and site services.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, control systems, wiring and components to minimise downtime.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and work with production and engineering teams to restore safe and efficient operation.
- Support the installation, testing and commissioning of new machinery, equipment and electrical systems.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance and maintenance practices.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements, company procedures and safe systems of work.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, repairs and remedial actions.
- Support equipment upgrades, process improvements and wider continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
- A relevant electrical qualification or completed apprenticeship in electrical/electronic engineering, maintenance engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years' relevant experience, ideally within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience of reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Practical knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components, including motors, sensors, drives and inverters.
- Knowledge of automation and control systems.
- Experience with PLC fault finding; basic PLC programming knowledge would be advantageous.
- A good understanding of electrical and workplace health and safety requirements, including safe systems of work and risk assessments.
- A proactive and methodical approach to fault finding, with strong attention to detail.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to accurately document maintenance activities and repairs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production, engineering and technical teams.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
