Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the SLB drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports SLB through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, Measurement While Drilling tools, Specialized Measurement tools and Rechargeable Batteries for Downhole use, and power source products.
Over 300 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations.

Description & Scope
You will be responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient, and reliable product delivery. This hands on position leads proactive troubleshooting of issues that occur during electrical assembly and electrical testing, while continuously improving end to end manufacturing processes through the application of Industry 4.0 principles and Lean methodologies.
As the owner of their assigned manufacturing processes, the successful candidate will maintain and elevate operational standards by training shop floor personnel, implementing and monitoring critical performance metrics, and providing close day to day production support. They are accountable for resolving complex electronic manufacturing problems and play an active role in addressing electrical safety concerns, quality issues, and production yield challenges.
This role is also deeply involved in new product introduction, collaborating with New Product Development Engineering teams from early concept through successful commercialisation. Responsibilities include reviewing new electrical designs and components, developing manufacturing technology roadmaps, providing Design for Manufacturing feedback, and leading the creation of Process FMECAs to ensure robust, safe, and scalable production.

Deliverables
- An automated test system for a downhole measurement-while-drilling tool
- Manufacturing of electronics designed for extreme conditions, requires thorough functional testing to eliminate any risk of failure for our customers.
- The candidate will need to learn the currently implemented test systems, which are more manual or semi-automated, and develop fully automated tests as replacements.
- During this internship, the intern will be guided by both manufacturing engineers and electrical design engineers.
Qualifications
- Studying a Bachelors or Masters in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Software or Firmware engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline
- Ideally the candidate will have experience in some or all of the following: Labview NI, Matlab, Python, manual test equipment (oscilloscopes etc) system level thinking.
