GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, are looking for Electrical Planning Engineer (12 months fixed term) who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.
Purpose of this role
Reporting to the Senior Design Engineer the Planning Engineer will provide electrical design & technical support to the business and its partners, largely in relation to new connection works from GTC network and assessment of new LCT (Low Carbon Technology) connections on existing supplies.
Your Key Responsibilities Are
- Undertake Network demand calculations and design Points of Connection (POCs) from existing electric networks to provide technical solutions and quotations for 3rd party POC Applications.
- Undertake Network export calculations for modelling of embedded generation applications on existing electric networks to assess and approve embedded generation applications in line with ENA ER G98 & G99 as well as relevant Company Standards.
- Undertake Network export calculations for modelling of embedded generation applications on existing electric networks.
- Liaise with Distribution Network Operators, Points of Connections, Independent Connection Providers on all aspects of design.
- Liaise with other departments to progress the design and construction process.
- Use systems and databases to manage customer requirements to facilitate all aspects of Distribution Network Operators and Independent Connection Providers relations.
- Provide accurate quality work within department and company.
- Maintain a helpful and information work environment.
- Assist the Senior Design Engineer in the development of greater efficiency within the section / company.
- Ensure that all relevant information is recorded accurately and submitted on time.
- Any other duties as required by the manager.

Qualifications
- Academic qualifications in English, Mathematics and at least one Science.
Experience/Knowledge
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
Abilities/Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- A Technical qualification in an engineering subject at either Level 2 City & Guild or equivalent.
- Have membership at a recognised engineering institution, e.g. IET.
- Current CSCS card.
- Be familiar with current Legislation, Electrical Standards & Specifications and ENA Recommendations relating to GTC electrical networks and be aware of the implications to the safe management of electrical networks based on these procedures.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes or equivalent.
- Ability to use network design software, e.g. WinDebut.
Conditions of Employment
- You will be required to participate in a standby rota.
