This position reports to:

Sales Support Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will be part of a multi‑disciplined engineering team delivering electrical power system studies and design activities across concept, feasibility, and detailed design stages. You will support customer engagement, translate technical requirements into high‑quality engineering solutions, and ensure system designs are safe, compliant, and operationally robust. You will collaborate closely with technical advisors, sales teams, project engineers, and stakeholders across the ABB organization.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Performing detailed power system studies such as load flow, short circuit/fault level analysis, protection coordination, harmonic assessments, voltage regulation, and dynamic stability analysis
  • Developing clear and accurate system design documentation including single‑line diagrams, electrical schematics, equipment layouts, cable schedules, and substations/E‑house layouts.
  • Ensuring all designs comply with national and international standards, grid codes, and ABB procedures.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical specifications for HV equipment including power transformers, switchgear (AIS/GIS), circuit breakers, relays, and cabling.
  • Collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams and maintaining strong customer focus by translating customer needs into engineered solutions and supporting client engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supporting sales team with early engagement with customers by understanding and interpreting customer needs and objectives.
  • Representing ABB at industry events, conferences

Qualifications for the role:

  • Ability to demonstrate your experience in power system studies, electrical design, and system modelling
  • You are highly skilled in using electrical system analysis tools such as ETAP, PowerFactory, AMTECH and have a strong understanding of the power generation and distribution market.
  • Possess enhanced knowledge of HV/LV systems, protection and control philosophy, and relevant engineering standards.
  • You are passionate about analytical problem‑solving, stakeholder collaboration, and effective communication; you enjoy working with cross‑functional teams and presenting technical content to diverse audiences.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare documentation, reports, and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline (BEng/MEng) will be an asset
  • You hold a valid UK passport or work permit / visa
