Brief Description

PURPOSE

The Electrical Production Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the day to day activities of the electrical fitting team. This role ensures that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. This role acts as the first point of contact for the Fitter B – Electrical staff, providing guidance, resolving technical and operational issues, and escalating concerns where necessary to maintain workflow and production continuity. In addition to technical delivery, the Electrical Production Manager provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to Electrical Fitters, driving performance in line with Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) objectives and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and co-ordinate electrical installation activities across assigned production areas or projects
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with BS 7671 and internal quality standards
  • Support integration of electrical systems into mechanical assemblies and complex products
  • Provide hands-on support for complex or critical wiring tasks when needed
  • Monitor daily build plans and ensure work is delivered in line with production schedules
  • Act as the first point of escalation for electrical build issues, supporting fault finding and resolution
  • Provide day-to-day direction, mentoring, and technical support to Electrical Fitters
  • Allocate tasks and balance workloads to meet production priorities
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members
  • Promote high standards of workmanship, behaviour, and accountability within the team
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all work is carried out in line with safe systems of work
  • Ensure team compliance with HSE procedures, risk assessments, and PPE requirements
  • Proactively identify and address hazards, unsafe behaviours, and near misses
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with 5S principles
  • Support inspections, audits, and testing activities
  • Manage and escalate non-conformances, ensuring timely resolution
  • Drive adherence to company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical team
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and build quality
  • Participate in Lean activities including 5S, standard work, and waste reduction
  • Support implementation of improved working methods and best practices
  • Contribute to achieving SQCDP performance targets
  • Make day-to-day decisions on build sequencing and issue resolution within defined parameters
  • Escalate complex technical, resource, or quality issues to Production Leadership
  • Recommend process improvements and support implementation
  • Influence team performance, standards, and behaviours on the shopfloor

Previous Experience

  • Proven experience in an electrical fitting or installation role within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading small teams or acting as a senior/lead technician
  • Strong background in interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
  • Experience in fault finding, diagnostics, and resolving build issues
  • Experience working within a quality-controlled or regulated manufacturing environment

Essential

TECHNICAL SKILLS/EDUCATION

  • Level 3 Installation Electrician /Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship – City & Guilds 5357 or equivalent
  • Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 – City & Guilds 2382 or equivalent
  • Level 3 Award in the initial verification and certification of electrical installations – City & Guilds 2394 or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of BS 7671 standards and electrical best practice
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
  • Effective communication and team coordination skills
