Electrical Project Engineer

Salary: up to £85,000 for the right candidate

High Voltage (HV) Power & Infrastructure

Projects - Scotland
Office - Glasgow
Role - Hybrid

The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Project Engineer with a degree in Electrical Engineering to lead the safe, successful delivery of a varied portfolio of high-voltage power and infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on engineering and project management role: alongside taking ownership of projects from planning through to completion, you’ll remain closely involved in the technical electrical engineering work, helping ensure designs and solutions meet the required standards. You’ll be responsible for delivering work on time and within budget, while building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project teams.

This is an opportunity to combine technical engineering knowledge with project leadership and commercial responsibility, while mentoring and supporting the development of Project Engineers and Graduate Engineers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Remain actively involved in hands-on electrical engineering, contributing technical expertise and helping resolve engineering and design challenges as projects progress.
  • Lead and manage projects from initial planning through to completion, maintaining a focus on safety, quality, programme and budget.
  • Manage, mentor and support Project Engineers, offering technical advice and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, site teams and other stakeholders to meet project objectives and expectations.
  • Develop construction programmes, monitor progress and coordinate resources to keep delivery on track.
  • Manage project budgets, commercial matters and financial forecasting, including identifying and addressing risks to delivery.
  • Promote high standards of health and safety, including planning and reviewing risk assessments and method statements, and carrying out site safety audits.
  • Visit sites to inspect works, monitor quality and progress, and attend project coordination and progress meetings. Visits are expected at least monthly for remote projects and twice monthly for local projects.
  • Coordinate in-house design and engineering activity, including equipment layouts, designs, cable schedules, and testing and commissioning procedures.
  • Work with manufacturers and suppliers on design, installation and commissioning; obtain competitive tenders and attend factory acceptance tests when required.
  • Plan procurement of long-lead items and coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment to site.
  • Manage interfaces between project teams, clients, network operators, commissioning teams and third-party engineers.
  • Maintain accurate project review documentation and support compliance with relevant statutory requirements, engineering standards and procedures.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
