Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Aberdeen
Rate: £43.73 per hour Umbrella (first 35 hours)
Working Patterns: Time and a Half for all hours worked above 35 per week
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer / Designer to join a project team supporting wastewater treatment facilities across the Aberdeen area. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects within the water sector, contributing to the design, delivery, installation, and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review contractor design packages for electrical and control systems projects.
- Develop and manage electrical design documentation including:
- Electrical Load Schedules
- Single Line Diagrams and Block Cable Diagrams
- Cable Sizing Calculations
- MCC Specifications and Data Sheets
- WIMES Data Sheets
- Control Philosophies
- Loop Termination Diagrams
- DSEAR Hazardous Area Assessments
- Electrical Installation Designs and Equipment Layouts
- Support MCC installation, commissioning activities, and associated planning.
- Manage design risks throughout the project lifecycle in accordance with CDM 2015 requirements.
- Create, maintain, and monitor project programmes using Microsoft Project, identifying critical paths and key project milestones.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, health & safety requirements, and water industry specifications.

Essential Requirements

- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Previous experience as an Electrical Designer or Project Engineer within an engineering project environment.
- Strong knowledge of MCC design, installation, and commissioning.
- Understanding of DSEAR, HAZOP, CDM, WIMES, and relevant British and European Standards.
- Expert user of AutoCAD 2D with the ability to create and amend technical drawings.
- Strong planning and project coordination skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Experience
- Water or wastewater treatment industry knowledge.
- Mechanical or Civil Engineering understanding.
- Project Management or Site Management experience.
