About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager with a strong, hands-on electrical background to lead the delivery of commercial, industrial (C&I), and ground-mount Solar PV projects across the UK.
You will manage the end-to-end electrical delivery of solar schemes ranging from 1MW up to 70MW, including associated High Voltage (HV) grid connections and balance of plant (BoP). This is a nationwide role requiring flexibility to travel and manage projects across the length and breadth of the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Delivery: Lead the planning, execution, commissioning, and handover of solar PV projects ranging from 1MW to 70MW, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to technical specification.
- Electrical Engineering Integrity: Act as the internal technical expert on-site. Oversee electrical installation works including containment, AC/DC cabling, string and central inverters, transformers, and grid connections.
- Grid & DNO Interface: Liaise with District Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) for grid connection points, witness testing, and energisation.
- Contractor & Supply Chain Management: Oversee specialized M&E subcontractors and direct labour. Manage procurement of long-lead electrical items (switchgear, transformers, inverters).

- Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to CDM regulations, safe systems of work, and company H&S policies. Draft and review Method Statements, Risk Assessments (RAMS), and Quality Plans.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
