Equans are recruiting for an Electrical Qualifying Supervisor to be based in Leeds. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

The Electrical Qualifying Supervisor is responsible for supervising the electrical installation and commissioning activities on construction projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements. This role oversees the work of electrical operatives and subcontractors, supports workforce development through mentoring and assessment, and acts as a key interface between site management and engineering teams to guarantee successful electrical outcomes.

Predominately an office-based role, the role will also require working on contracts as an Electrical Operative.

What will you deliver?

  • Supervise and coordinate electrical installation work ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess, mentor, and verify the competence and qualifications of electrical operatives on site in accordance with industry and company standards.
  • Ensure all electrical work meets quality and compliance standards such as BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations) and building control requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other supervisors to plan and execute electrical works effectively within project timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records of workforce qualification, training, and certification status.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate learning or development opportunities for electrical operatives.
  • Lead site safety briefings related to electrical activities and ensure hazards are managed proactively.
  • Conduct inspections and audits on electrical installations and report any non-conformances or safety issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for electrical processes and best practice adoption.

Who are we looking for?

  • Relevant Electrical Qualification (e.g., 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation)
  • Proven experience in electrical installation supervision on construction sites
  • Demonstrable knowledge of UK electrical standards (BS 7671) and health & safety regulations
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Full UK Driving license
