Electrical Quantity Surveyor – HV Substations
Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent

The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team and support the successful commercial delivery of major HV electrical and substation projects across Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with experience in electrical engineering, power, utilities, construction, or infrastructure to take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of electrical packages from project commencement through to final account.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Planning Engineers, clients, subcontractors, and the wider commercial team, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial delivery of assigned HV electrical and substation projects.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, BOQs, cost reports, and profit plans.
- Monitor project expenditure, commitments, and overall commercial performance.
- Prepare and submit accurate interim valuations, progress applications, and final accounts.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, including valuations, payment certificates, remeasurement, and final accounts.
- Identify, value, and manage variations, change orders, dayworks, and additional works.

Essential Requirements:
- Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
- Commercial experience within the electrical, power, utilities, construction, or engineering sectors.
- Experience managing project costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Good understanding of contract conditions and their practical application.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial and commercial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience working on HV electrical projects.
- Substation construction or installation experience.
- Knowledge of switchgear, HV cabling, electrical infrastructure, or power distribution.
- Experience working for an electrical, M&E, utilities, or engineering contractor.
- Previous technical experience as an Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Instrumentation Technician, or similar.
- Experience managing subcontractor remeasurement, dayworks, and change control.

Salary & Benefits:
£50,000 – £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
