About the role

Datel Electrical is an established and growing electrical contractor based in Newton Abbot, and we’re looking for an Electrical Service Coordinator to join our team.

This is much more than a traditional administration role.

You’ll become a key part of our day-to-day operation, acting as the link between our customers, engineers, suppliers and management team, helping make sure jobs are organised properly and our customers receive the level of service we pride ourselves on.

It’s a busy and varied role. We’re looking for someone who is naturally organised, great with people, comfortable when priorities change and, most importantly, someone who takes ownership and gets things done.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing incoming telephone calls and our main email inbox
  • Providing excellent customer service and managing customer expectations
  • Booking, scheduling and coordinating electrical works using our job management system
  • Managing engineers’ diaries and responding to changing priorities
  • Keeping customers informed and ensuring communication doesn’t get missed
  • Taking new enquiries and gathering the information required by our technical team
  • Ordering materials for scheduled works and ensuring they’re available when required
  • Liaising with electrical wholesalers, suppliers and engineers
  • Helping manage stock levels within our stores, office and engineers’ vans
  • Making sure upcoming jobs are properly prepared before our engineers attend
  • Supporting the management team with the day-to-day operation of the business
  • Working closely with our technical and engineering teams
  • Coordinating programmed electrical works alongside smaller and reactive jobs
  • Following up outstanding information and helping keep jobs moving through to completion
  • Helping identify opportunities to improve our customer service and internal processes
  • Assisting with general operational and administrative duties when required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

One & Done

You’ll also play an important part in coordinating and developing our One & Done electrical service.

One & Done is focused on making smaller electrical jobs straightforward and convenient for our customers, with suitable works assessed, scheduled and completed as efficiently as possible.

You’ll be a key point of contact for customers using the service – managing enquiries, gathering the information our team needs, coordinating appointments and materials, keeping customers updated and helping make sure our engineers arrive properly prepared.

You’ll work alongside our management and technical teams as we continue to develop and grow the service.

Who are we looking for?

You don’t need to be a qualified electrician.

However, previous experience or knowledge of the electrical, construction, engineering or trade sector would be a real advantage.

You could currently be:

  • Working for an electrical or building services contractor
  • Working at an electrical wholesaler or trade counter
  • In a service coordinator, scheduler or contracts administration role
  • Someone with previous electrical apprenticeship or trade experience looking to move away from the tools
  • An electrician or tradesperson looking for an office-based position
  • Working within another busy service or engineering business and looking for your next challenge

We’re deliberately keeping an open mind about background.

For us, finding the right person is more important than finding someone with a particular job title.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally be someone who:

  • Is confident, friendly and professional when dealing with customers
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is highly organised and able to prioritise
  • Takes ownership rather than waiting to be asked
  • Remains calm and thinks clearly when plans change
  • Enjoys solving problems
  • Has strong attention to detail
  • Is comfortable using computers and learning new systems
  • Can communicate effectively with both customers and tradespeople
  • Understands the importance of keeping people updated
  • Enjoys being part of a close-knit team
  • Spots things that need doing and follows them through
  • Looks for ways of making things work better

What you’ll get from us

You’ll be joining a friendly, established local business where this role genuinely matters.

You’ll work closely with our management, technical and engineering teams and have the opportunity to make the position your own as the business develops.

There will be a structured handover and training period, giving you time to understand our customers, systems and ways of working.

We’re looking for someone who wants to become an important, long-term member of the Datel team rather than simply fill an office position.
