Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a proactive, safety-focused, and highly motivated Electrical Service Technician to join our team in Skye.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ENERCON wind turbines, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled service, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities on ENERCON wind turbines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults across electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Carry out electrical maintenance, installations, retrofits, and component replacement activities in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Assist with mechanical maintenance and repair tasks as required.
  • Conduct regular turbine inspections and proactively identify potential issues before they impact performance.
  • Complete all service, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and contractual requirements.
  • Complete and maintain accurate digital and paper-based documentation, including service reports, maintenance records, and weekly/monthly reports.
  • Conduct risk assessments and follow approved method statements to ensure safe working practices.
  • Adhere to all site rules, company policies, Wind Turbine Safety Rules, and health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, workmanship, and housekeeping at all times.
  • Climb wind turbines regularly and ensure all required training, certifications, and medical requirements remain valid and up to date.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues, Service Coordinators, supervisors, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders, reporting issues and concerns promptly.
  • Manage vehicle stock, tools, equipment, spare parts, and materials in accordance with company inventory control procedures.
  • Participate in an emergency call-out rota and respond to breakdowns and operational issues as required.
  • Support other service teams and operational locations during periods of increased workload, including travel and working away from home when required.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all technical instructions, safety bulletins, procedures, and company documentation relevant to the role.
  • Once suitably trained and authorised, carry out high-voltage switching and related duties in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and communicating issues that may affect safety, performance, or operational delivery.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ Qualification in Electrical or Engineering
  • Time served apprentice
  • Physically fit and able to pass a Working at Heights Medical (Chester Step Test)
  • Full, clean Category B driving licence
  • Valid Safe Pass Card is essential
  • Good IT Skills
  • Team player & Good communicator
  • Highly organised individual with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to show initiative and flexibility with workload, including weekend on-call work
  • Travel nationwide & abroad for training, workshops is expected

This role will have the candidate based in Skye.

Reporting to

Field Area Manager

  • Your hours of work are 7.30 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday with on-call cover at weekends, on a Rota basis.
  • An overnight allowance is applicable when you are required to travel
