Join Essity as an Electrical & Instrumentation Specialist and play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability, performance, and efficiency of our manufacturing operations at Stubbins Mill, Ramsbottom.

About the Role

As an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Specialist, you'll be an integral part of the Mill Operations team, helping us achieve our production, safety, quality, and sustainability goals.

This is a day-based role (Monday to Friday) offering the opportunity to work across a wide range of electrical systems, instrumentation, automation equipment, and continuous improvement projects within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Maintenance Leader, you'll provide technical expertise, support operational performance, and drive improvements that enhance reliability across the mill.

As part of the role, you will participate in a site call-out rota, providing out-of-hours technical support when required to help maintain safe and reliable mill operations.

What You Will Do

  • Provide hands-on electrical and instrumentation support and coaching to help resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of paper manufacturing and site utility systems.
  • Diagnose, maintain, calibrate, and improve instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment.
  • Participate in daily operational reviews to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and GAP assessments to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Lead and support medium and long-term improvement projects focused on efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to deliver sustainable solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the site call-out rota and provide technical support to minimise downtime and restore equipment safely and effectively.

Who Are You?

  • A time-served Electrical Technician with a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, paper, tissue, or process industry environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working with industrial instrumentation, process control systems, drives, and automation equipment.
  • Ideally experienced with Siemens control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation.
  • A confident communicator who can challenge constructively and influence others.
  • A proactive self-starter who works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and operational excellence.
