AmcoGiffen is a leading UK engineering and infrastructure business, delivering specialist engineering, maintenance and asset management services across critical infrastructure sectors.

Due to an internal restructure within our Environment Agency MEICA team, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to support the efficient delivery of maintenance, repair and improvement works across a range of Environment Agency assets throughout the North West region.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established framework team responsible for maintaining critical flood defence, pumping and electrical infrastructure assets that protect communities and support environmental resilience. The role supports the continued safe and effective delivery of framework commitments whilst helping optimise resources and improve operational efficiency.

The Role

As Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of electrical installation, maintenance and repair activities across Environment Agency sites throughout the North West.

Working closely with Contracts Engineers, Project Managers, clients and delivery teams, you will provide technical guidance, site leadership and operational supervision to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

You will oversee both direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements and industry regulations whilst maintaining high standards of safety, productivity and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of electrical maintenance, repair and installation activities.
  • Effectively lead, coordinate and monitor direct labour and subcontract resources.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme requirements.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across all activities.
  • Support the planning and coordination of framework activities and resource allocation.
  • Mentor and support electrical operatives and developing team members.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all company and client health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Brief method statements, risk assessments and task briefing sheets to site teams.
  • Undertake site inspections and monitor compliance with safe systems of work.
  • Identify, report and help resolve unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Ensure works are undertaken in accordance with:
    • Applicable legislation and regulations.
    • Contract Health & Safety Plans.
    • Quality and Environmental Plans.
    • Client specifications and approved drawings.
    • Company Business Management Systems.

Technical Delivery

  • Supervise maintenance and repair of electrical infrastructure and associated assets.
  • Support fault finding, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist with electrical asset inspections and condition assessments.
  • Support delivery of works associated with:
    • Electrical distribution systems.
    • Control panels and switchgear.
    • Instrumentation and control systems.
    • PLC and SCADA equipment.
    • Pumps, motors and associated mechanical-electrical assets.

Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor progress and productivity to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain accurate site records, diaries and resource allocations.
  • Provide progress updates and reports to Project Managers and Contracts Engineers.
  • Identify and communicate risks, issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in achieving framework performance, cost and programme targets.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and technically competent Electrical Supervisor with experience supervising electrical works within industrial, infrastructure, utilities, water, environmental or similar engineering environments.

You will possess:

  • Strong electrical installation, maintenance and fault-finding experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience managing operational teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A strong understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and coordinate multiple activities effectively.
  • A practical approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Experience within water, utilities, flood defence, MEICA, industrial process, infrastructure or asset maintenance environments would be highly advantageous.

Essential Requirements

  • SSSTS / SMSTS
  • Relevant Electrical Qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Proven experience supervising electrical works

Desirable Qualifications

  • ECS / JIB Gold Card
  • First Aid at Work
  • Confined Space Training
  • Inspection & Testing Qualifications (2391 or equivalent)
  • Experience working on MEICA frameworks
