I’m supporting a leading aerospace engineering organisation with the appointment of an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join a specialist team developing advanced electrical technologies for future aerospace power and propulsion applications.

This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of aircraft electrification, developing complex electrical power architectures from early concept and requirements through modelling, simulation, prototype development and full-scale demonstration.

The systems being developed span from kW through to MW-scale power, creating challenging engineering problems across electrical generation, conversion, distribution, control, protection and system integration.

The role will involve:

  • Developing electrical power-system architectures
  • Defining system and subsystem requirements
  • Integrating electrical machines, generators, power-conversion systems and electrical distribution
  • Assessing architecture impacts across the wider aircraft and propulsion system
  • Supporting electrical load, fault, safety and reliability analysis
  • Developing technical specifications and verification requirements
  • Supporting modelling, simulation, prototype and demonstrator activity
  • Solving complex multidisciplinary engineering problems
  • Working with specialist engineering teams, suppliers and technology partners
  • Providing technical guidance and supporting the development of other engineers

We’re particularly interested in engineers with:

  • Professional experience developing aerospace electrical systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical power generation, conversion and distribution
  • Experience integrating electrical machines and power electronics into wider systems
  • Experience defining engineering requirements and technical specifications
  • A strong systems-engineering mindset
  • Exposure to electrical architecture and system-level trade studies
