Electrical Systems Engineer – Avionics Test Rig Development

Project Description:
The Electrical Systems Engineer will join the FLGT programme, supporting the BSCS (Brake Steering Control System) project within the Landing Gear Functional Integration Bench (FIB) environment. The project focuses on modernising and upgrading an existing test and integration platform used to simulate aircraft landing gear, brake and steering systems.
Working with a combination of legacy hardware, existing installations, and incomplete or outdated technical drawings, the successful candidate will support the review, update and creation of electrical designs, schematics, wiring documentation, and system configurations. The role will contribute to the refurbishment and enhancement of the Functional Integration Bench, ensuring it remains capable of supporting future aircraft programmes and system development activities.
The Functional Integration Bench acts as a representative aircraft environment, integrating real aircraft components and systems to enable testing, validation and functional assessment. The engineer will support the installation, integration and configuration of new electrical equipment and components, helping adapt the platform to meet the requirements of evolving aircraft systems and programmes.

The role will involve close collaboration with the electrical team to ensure safe, effective and controlled implementation of design changes whilst maintaining configuration integrity across the test environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce system designs in accordance with the product breakdown structure.
- Work with system architects to understand the key requirements and help to clarify them.
- Develop electrical specification and design and create drawings and documents for implementation in line with client Standard Practices.
- Be familiar with Functional requirements development.
- Be familiar with FMEA process.
- Perform wire size and type calculations - voltage, and current and other associated values for design solution as required.
- Ability to define and specify wiring and interconnects specifications.
- Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) for design solutions and locate appropriate suppliers for component parts and request quotations accordingly.
- Ensure configuration control is maintained at all times.
- Support relevant stakeholders with test, integration and commissioning processes as required.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Aircraft EWIS (Electrical wiring interconnection systems).
- Experience with avionics or electronics testing and test rig development.
- Practical knowledge of debugging in electronic and electro mechanical environment.
- Electronics / Test rig electrical requirements and design development.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD for creating relevant electrical drawings.
- Experience Google and MS Office Applications.
- Understanding wiring diagrams, schematics and aircraft documentation (including AMMs, FCOMs, etc.)
Communication:
- Support relevant stakeholders with test, integration and commissioning processes as required.
- Working with a multi-disciplined team to design and implement electrical engineering solutions.
- Create weekly progress reports.
Advantageous Skills:
- Practical Hand skills using electrical / electronic components and associated tools (e.g., soldering irons, multi-meters, etc.)
- Aircraft Avionics experience.
- Test rig development experience.
- Experience working in Aerospace or defence.
