Role Overview
JAB Recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our client’s maintenance team at an operational gas production and processing facility in Barrow-in-Furness.
The Electrical Technician will undertake planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and equipment repairs to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facility. This role will also provide technical support during plant modifications, commissioning and decommissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive electrical maintenance.
- Diagnose complex faults affecting critical plant and equipment.
- Identify appropriate technical solutions and safely return equipment to service.
- Complete commissioning and decommissioning activities in line with operational programmes.
- Contribute to the design and commissioning of plant modifications.
- Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Supervise contractors, vendors and other personnel during designated work activities.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Confirm that the correct permits and control measures are in place before work begins.
- Undertake Power Technician duties and, when appropriately qualified, act as an SAEP or REP.
- Perform nominated emergency response duties and maintain the required competencies.
- Promote strong health, safety, environmental and process-safety performance.

Qualifications and Experience
- A BTEC Ordinary Certificate or equivalent qualification in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable electrical maintenance experience within the oil and gas, petrochemical or process industries.
- Experience working within production or maintenance operations.
- A sound understanding of electrical engineering principles.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities.
- A thorough understanding of safe working practices, permit systems and the hazards associated with process facilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable
- Current or previous HV authorisation.
- SAEP or REP qualification or authorisation.
- Experience supervising contractors or vendor personnel.
- Experience supporting plant commissioning, decommissioning or modification activities.

You will be a safety-focused and dependable Electrical Technician who can work effectively within a busy operational environment. You will be comfortable taking ownership of maintenance activities, investigating technical issues and working collaboratively with operations, maintenance and contractor personnel.
