Role Description
The Electrical Technician will work full-time on-site in Crewe, supporting electrical work on rail vehicles and related equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing electrical maintenance, inspections, and repairs on rolling stock systems, ensuring work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role involves diagnosing faults, troubleshooting electrical issues, and replacing or upgrading components as required. The Electrical Technician will interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation, use appropriate test equipment, and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to deliver projects on time. The individual will also contribute to continuous improvement, maintain accurate records of work completed, and support a safe, well-organized depot environment.

- Candidates should possess strong skills in electrical maintenance and working safely with electricity in an industrial or rail environment.
- Candidates should possess troubleshooting abilities and practical knowledge of electrical equipment used in rolling stock or similar heavy engineering settings.
- Candidates should possess a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles relevant to rail vehicles and associated infrastructure.
- Recognized qualification in electrical engineering or a related field (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience).
- Experience working on rail vehicles, heavy plant, or industrial electrical systems is highly beneficial.
- Good understanding of safety regulations, industry standards, and safe systems of work (e.g., lockout/tagout, PPE, risk assessments).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work shifts or overtime when required to meet project or depot demands.
