Job Description: Electrical Technician

Expleo is a trusted partner for end-to-end engineering, quality services, and management consulting. We help organizations deliver complex engineering programs across the Defence, Aerospace, Marine, Energy, and Transportation sectors. Our engineers support the development, integration, and verification of innovative technologies for some of the UK's leading organizations.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our engineering team in Bristol, supporting the assembly, integration, testing, and fault diagnosis of electrical and electronic systems used within complex defense programs.

As an Electrical Technician, you will play a key role in the manufacture, assembly, and verification of electrical and electronic equipment. Working from engineering drawings and technical documentation, you will build wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and test equipment while supporting integration and verification activities to ensure products meet customer and quality requirements.

You will work closely with Electrical, Electronics, and Systems Engineers to troubleshoot issues, support development activities, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions within a safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and electronic test rigs, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Manufacture wire looms, cable assemblies, and electrical control panels from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and build instructions.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wiring and connectors to a high standard.
  • Install and route cables in accordance with engineering specifications and industry best practice.
  • Carry out continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing of electrical assemblies.
  • Perform inspections to ensure assemblies meet quality, workmanship, and customer standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults, working with engineers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Support the integration of electrical and electronic equipment into larger systems.
  • Assist with prototype builds, design verification activities, and engineering investigations.
  • Produce and maintain accurate build records, inspection documentation, and test reports.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, health & safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and test activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
