Electrical Testing & Inspection Engineer – AP Approved
Location: Cardiff
Pay: £22.00 per hour + Bonuses
Job Type: Full-time
About the Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Testing & Inspection Engineer to work on electrical testing and inspection projects across Cardiff. The successful candidate must have strong experience in electrical inspection and testing and must be AP (Authorised Person) approved/authorised.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical inspection and testing.
- Complete EICRs and periodic inspection and testing.
- Carry out testing in accordance with BS 7671.
- Undertake electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance and RCD testing.
- Inspect distribution boards, protective devices, cabling and electrical installations.
- Identify electrical defects and accurately record observations.
- Complete electrical test certificates and inspection reports.
- Carry out authorised electrical isolation and switching duties.
- Work safely on live electrical systems where required and appropriately authorised.
- Follow RAMS, permit-to-work procedures and electrical safety requirements.
- Report defects, remedial requirements and safety issues.
- Maintain accurate testing records and documentation.

Essential Requirements
- Qualified electrician/electrical engineer.
- Proven experience in Electrical Testing & Inspection.
- Current AP (Authorised Person) approval/authorisation.
- Good knowledge of BS 7671 / 18th Edition.
- Experience carrying out EICRs and electrical testing.
- Competent in electrical inspection, testing and fault identification.
- Understanding of safe isolation and electrical safety procedures.
- Able to complete electrical certification and technical documentation accurately.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication and professional approach.

Desirable Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent.
- Experience working in commercial or industrial environments.
- Previous experience working as an Authorised Person (AP).
- Experience with electrical switching and permit-to-work systems.
