Intermediate / Senior Electrical Engineer

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Intermediate / Senior Electrical Engineer to join an established building services consultancy based in Nottingham.

The business is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy specialising in mechanical and electrical building services, project management, and technical consultancy.

Its work spans a broad range of sectors, with projects covering commercial, industrial, education, leisure, residential, and specialist buildings. The team is involved throughout the project lifecycle, from early feasibility and surveys through design, construction, and handover.

The consultancy also has a strong focus on BIM and Revit-led design, using coordinated digital models to improve design quality, clash detection, and the overall delivery of projects.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who wants to work on varied projects, take ownership of electrical design packages, and develop within a close-knit consultancy environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deliver electrical building services designs across a variety of commercial and construction projects.
  • Take projects from initial concepts and feasibility through detailed design, tender, and construction stages.
  • Produce electrical calculations, specifications, drawings, schedules, and technical reports.
  • Design and coordinate LV electrical distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, containment, and associated building services systems.
  • Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and other consultants to develop coordinated solutions.
  • Undertake site surveys and inspections, identifying existing electrical conditions and developing practical solutions around them.
  • Review drawings, technical submissions, and contractor proposals throughout project delivery.
  • Attend design meetings and provide clear technical input to clients and project teams.
  • Assist with commissioning, snagging, and resolving technical issues during construction.
  • Use Revit and other relevant design tools to produce coordinated project information.
  • Support junior engineers and contribute to maintaining strong technical standards across the team.
  • Take increasing responsibility for managing your own projects, deadlines, and client relationships.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an engineer who has a solid grounding in electrical building services and is ready to take on greater technical and project responsibility.

You'll ideally have:

  • A degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a building services consultancy or similar design environment.
  • Good experience producing electrical designs across a range of project stages.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical building services systems, including power distribution, lighting, and emergency systems.
  • Experience with relevant UK regulations and standards, particularly BS 7671.
  • Experience using Revit and working within a BIM environment.
  • Familiarity with electrical design and calculation software.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple project requirements.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established engineering consultancy where you'll get exposure to a genuine variety of building projects, rather than being tied to one sector or repetitive project type.

You'll work alongside experienced mechanical and electrical engineers and have the opportunity to become involved in projects from the initial brief right through to completion. The consultancy places strong emphasis on client-focused design, technical quality, and coordinated delivery, while continuing to develop its use of BIM and modern design technology.

For an Intermediate Engineer, the role provides a clear opportunity to step up technically and take on more project responsibility. For someone already operating at Senior level, there is scope to take ownership of projects, develop client relationships, and support the growth of junior members of the team.

If you're an electrical engineer looking for a role with varied projects, real design responsibility, and long-term progression, this could be an excellent next move.
