Company Description
Retroflo Ltd is an electrical and mechanical contractor based in the North East of England, with core activities focused on the water industry. The company provides end-to-end EICA services, including mechanical installations, project consultancy, design, implementation, commissioning, maintenance, and optimisation. Retroflo specializes in water industry and pumping station works, delivering projects directly for water companies and collaborating with house builders on pumping stations and treatment works. Core services include electrical installation and testing, instrumentation and process control, electrical/ICA design, asset condition surveys, and pumping station installations. Team members work on technically varied projects that support essential water infrastructure.
Role Description
The Electrician will work full time on sites around the North East, supporting electrical projects within the water industry and related pumping station installations. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Installing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations
- Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and performing routine and preventative maintenance on control panels, instrumentation, and associated mechanical systems
- Interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Assisting with commissioning activities
- Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other trades to deliver high-quality work

The position requires:
- Accurate documentation of work performed
- Proactive communication about site issues and improvement opportunities
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of electricity principles and safe working practices around electrical systems.
- Proven experience in electrical work, including installation, testing, and compliant wiring in industrial or utility environments.
- Skills in maintenance & repair of electrical equipment, with the ability to perform both routine and reactive tasks.
- Effective troubleshooting capabilities for diagnosing and resolving electrical faults and performance issues.
- Background in electrical engineering or a related discipline, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Relevant electrical qualifications or apprenticeship (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) and up-to-date certification for electrical safety.
- Experience working in the water industry, pumping stations, or similar process environments is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites as required, with a focus on safe, reliable, and quality-driven work.
