Location: Drax Power Station, Selby
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Electrician to join our established Electrical Maintenance team based at Drax Power Station near Selby.
Following the successful renewal of our long-term maintenance contract for several further years, and as a result of recent team changes, we are looking to recruit additional Electricians to support our dedicated full-time onsite electrical team. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a stable, long-term role within a highly respected engineering business, working on one of the UK's most significant power generation facilities.

About The Business Unit
Our Engineering division delivers electrical and mechanical maintenance, installation and project works across a range of critical infrastructure and industrial environments throughout the UK.
At Drax Power Station, our established onsite team supports the safe operation and maintenance of electrical assets across the site, delivering planned maintenance, installations, testing, fault-finding and improvement works that contribute to the ongoing reliability and efficiency of the facility. The recent contract extension provides a strong pipeline of work and long-term career opportunities for the successful candidates.
The Role
Reporting to the Site Management team, you will play an important role in delivering electrical maintenance and installation works across the Drax Power Station site.
This is a Monday to Friday position working standard day shifts of 07:00hrs to 15:30hrs, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities in a safety-critical industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical lighting maintenance across the power station site.
- Undertake general electrical maintenance and installation works.
- Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs efficiently and safely.
- Complete testing, inspection and commissioning activities where required.
- Install and maintain electrical containment systems including cable tray, ladder rack and associated equipment.
- Interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and permit systems.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Complete maintenance documentation and site records accurately.
- Contribute to a positive team culture focused on quality, safety and continuous improvement.

About You
You will be a qualified Electrician with experience working within industrial, power generation, manufacturing or heavy engineering environments.
The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, technically competent and able to work effectively as part of an established maintenance team supporting critical infrastructure assets.
Essential Qualifications & Competencies
- Qualified Electrician (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- ECS/JIB Card or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong understanding of electrical installation and maintenance practices
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical schematics
- Experience working safely under permit-to-work systems
Desirable Qualifications & Competencies
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection, Testing & Commissioning qualification
- IOSH or other Health & Safety qualifications
- Site supervision or site management qualifications
- Experience within power generation, industrial or heavy engineering environments
Knowledge & Experience
- Electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience
- Testing and inspection of electrical installations
- Experience of lighting maintenance and upgrades
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and equipment
- Strong awareness of health, safety and environmental requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
