Job title: Electrician

Based at: Newmarket Racecourses

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Electrician to join our Newmarket Racecourses Operations team and to be responsible for all electrical maintenance work, including cable installation, wiring and emergency lighting. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of electrical regulations and Health & Safety policies and procedures with a willingness to assist other members of the maintenance team as required.

The Electrician will

  • Carry out all electrical maintenance work and to assist with any other areas of maintenance as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Work on specific projects at Newmarket Racecourses and assist with projects at Huntingdon Racecourse as and when required.
  • Operate a wide array of machinery relevant to the job, complying with the company’s health and safety policies and procedures to always ensure safe working practises.
  • Provide an efficient and consistently high standard of work and service to both internal and external customers.
  • Drive company vehicles in accordance with guidelines as required.
  • Attend and support race days, events, and functions as necessary, including weekends, evenings, and Bank Holidays.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach in suggesting improvements and be part of the team that delivers the improvements.
  • Be proactive in contributing to the most efficient utilisation of the Racecourses’ Facility budgets.

About you

  • 18th Edition Qualification.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Level 3 – Installation and Testing
  • Hold a Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Knowledge of BMS & CAFM Systems
  • Knowledge of HVAC
  • BS7909 – Temporary Electrical Systems preferred.
  • IOSH – Managing Safely preferred.
  • A working knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Evidence of strong all round electrical qualifications and knowledge
  • Previous trade employment/working within a maintenance department.
  • Evidence of the ability to work well with different working styles
  • Experience of working for a leisure venue and/or racing environment preferred
  • Experience of operating machinery and tools e.g. mobile towers, ladders etc preferred.
  • Highly organised with a sharp eye for detail, ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
