Metro Plumb North East

Durham - High Tiered Security Sites

Permanent

Salary - £36,000 - £40,000 + benefits & overtime

Core hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am - 4:30pm, Fridays 7:30am - 3:00pm

Overtime: Saturday and Sunday at time and a half

About Metro Plumb

Metro Plumb is a national plumbing business with more than 40 local depots across the UK. Our teams of professional plumbers can deal with a variety of plumbing issues, from emergency repairs and stopping leaks to fixing broken boilers and replacing dripping taps.

Here at Metro Plumb, we work alongside our sister companies to provide a complete “water in, waste out” service for our customers. As part of Franchise Brands PLC, our customers benefit from access to over 600 drainage, pump, plumbing, and FOG engineers. We can provide you with access to specialist expertise, and one point of contact for all drainage, plumbing, pump, and FOG works, as well as a unique refrigeration seal replacement offering.

Metro Plumb is part of Metro Rod, which has been leading the way in drainage solutions for over 40 years. Both companies are part of the bigger franchise group - Franchise Brands.

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for a reliable, skilled electrician who’s ready to step into a long-term role they can grow in. This is not just a job — it’s an opportunity to build a career inside a respected, stable business that handles sensitive work others simply can’t.

This person will be based within high security sites (secure and custodial sites, including justice-sector and government premises). This therefore requires someone who has a clear credit and criminal history.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and repairing electrical systems within high security sites such as MOD sites, Police stations, Border Force locations, Government buildings, Prisons, Defence capability sites
  • Performing planned preventive maintenance works
  • Installing wiring and electrical components, like switches and lights
  • Testing and inspection
  • Diagnosing and fixing problems
  • Ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards and in line with current regulations
  • Travelling around the North East to various sites

Requirements

  • Willing to undergo enhanced DBS and vetting checks
  • Comfortable following strict safeguarding and site access protocols
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and dependable - we work where trust really matters
  • Must have experience working on commercial maintenance projects
  • Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018
  • Level 3 in Electrical Installation
  • Must have a clean criminal record and no CCJ’s/Black marks on a credit report
  • JIB/ECS
  • Can pass a DBS check
  • 17th/ 18th Edition
  • 2391 Testing and Inspecting or equivalent
  • Must have full UK driving license
  • Must live in the Durham area
