About The Role

WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for an Electrician to join our Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) Services team on a permanent, full-time basis. This site-based role will cover the Central Belt across a range of client sites.

As an Industrial Electrician, you will deliver electrical installation, maintenance, testing, and pre-commissioning works across site-based operational and project environments. Working as part of the E&M Services team, you will support safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery across a range of client sites.

The role will involve installing, maintaining, repairing, and fault-finding electrical equipment, interpreting RAMS, completing daily task-specific risk assessments, supporting NICEIC certification, and working in line with BS7671, client specifications, WGM Electrical Safety Rules, and Isolation Safety Rules.

You will also review electrical design information, complete red-line mark-ups for as-built drawings, support onsite design changes, and work closely with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and wider delivery teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Install, maintain, repair, test, and pre-commission electrical equipment across industrial, utilities, and infrastructure sites.
  • Fault-find and resolve electrical issues safely, efficiently, and to the required technical standard.
  • Deliver electrical construction, compliance, and control in line with relevant regulations, client standards, and WGM requirements.
  • Interpret RAMS, prepare daily task-specific risk assessments, and follow safe systems of work.
  • Carry out electrical isolations and process instructions in line with WGM Electrical Safety Rules and Isolation Safety Rules.
  • Review design information, support onsite design changes, and complete red-line mark-ups for as-built drawings.
  • Support quality, health, and safety, continual improvement, and compliance across electrical works.
  • Work with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and wider delivery teams to support safe, high-quality project delivery.

To support you in the role, you’ll be provided with a company van and fuel card, with a working pattern of 7.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.30am to 1pm on Fridays.

What You’ll Bring

  • Time-served electrical experience gained through a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • SVQ Level 3 Electrical, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, and a valid ECS card.
  • Practical experience in electrical installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or construction.
  • Experience working in industrial, utilities, infrastructure, water, manufacturing, process, energy, or similar site-based environments.
  • Good knowledge of safe systems of work, electrical compliance, and current electrical regulations.
  • Strong fault-finding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence working on site with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and wider delivery teams.
  • A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to and from sites, including working away from home when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
