Energy Assets is growing its Electricity Networks team, and we are recruiting both Network Operatives and Network Engineers.
Whether you are looking to take your first step into electricity networks or already have relevant network experience, we offer structured training, specialist development and clear opportunities to progress.
The Opportunities
Network Operative
Salary: £35,000–£45,000
As a Network Operative, you will support the inspection, maintenance and operation of our electricity distribution network.
You will work independently on inspections and alongside experienced Network Engineers on planned maintenance, fault response and network operations. We will provide the training and practical experience you need to develop your specialist skills and progress towards becoming a fully qualified Network Engineer.
Network Engineer
Salary: £40,000–£50,000
As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and operating our electricity distribution network.
You will inspect network assets, undertake maintenance activities, respond to faults and help ensure our customers receive a safe and reliable electricity supply. Depending on your experience and authorisations, you may also undertake switching, commissioning, energisation and network restoration activities.

- Inspecting LV electricity distribution assets, substations, underground cables and associated equipment
- Carrying out routine maintenance and condition assessments
- Identifying and reporting defects and arranging remedial work
- Installing network monitoring equipment
- Supporting fault response and network restoration
- Assisting with planned maintenance and connection works
- Supporting commissioning and energisation of new network assets
- Undertaking LV switching operations following appropriate training and authorisation
- Assisting with cable-jointing activities or completing specialist jointing training
- Producing accurate inspection reports and technical records
- Working safely in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations
- Participating in an on-call rota once appropriately trained
Most inspection and surveying activities are completed independently. Planned live work is normally undertaken as part of a two-person team to ensure it is carried out safely and efficiently.
What We’re Looking For
We are interested in hearing from people at different stages of their electrical careers.
You will need:
- A recognised electrical qualification or relevant electrical industry experience
- A full UK driving licence
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
The following would be advantageous but are not essential for every role:
- NVQ Level 3 electrical qualification or equivalent
- Experience in electricity distribution or utilities
- Electrical installation or maintenance experience
- Experience of LV switching or network operations
- Authorised Person status
- Cable-jointing experience
- An HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related subject

Previous electricity distribution experience is not essential for the Network Operative opportunity. If you have the right electrical foundation, practical ability and attitude, we will provide the specialist training you need.
