We are currently seeking both Electronics Engineers and Senior Electronics Engineers to join our talented Electronics & Software team in Bristol.
Whether you're looking to take the next step in your engineering career or already operating at a senior level, you'll be joining a consultancy environment where no two projects are the same. You will be responsible for the design and development of electronic systems as part of the Electronics & Software team. You will consult with clients to understand their challenges and use your creative and technical skills to identify and bring to life solutions.
This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of innovative medical devices and consumer healthcare products, taking ideas from early-stage concepts through to manufacturing. You'll work as part of multidisciplinary teams alongside software engineers, mechanical engineers, industrial designers, researchers and human factors specialists to solve complex technical challenges and deliver products that improve people's lives.
You will use your knowledge of electronic and physical first principles, analytical skills, practical experimentation, and simulation skills to take electronic systems from concepts through to production. You will have the opportunity to lead projects, proposal writing, planning, specification development and presenting project activities.
About the Roles
Depending on your experience, your primary focus will be within one of the following levels:

- Initially offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of moving to a permanent contract.
- Designing and developing electronic systems as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Applying electronics and physical first principles to solve engineering problems.
- Supporting the development of products from concept through to production.
- Working directly with clients to understand technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Collaborating closely with software, mechanical, industrial design and human factors teams.

Senior Electronics Engineer - Senior Electronics Engineer | Careers with Ensera Design
- Leading the design and development of electronic systems from concept through to production.
- Developing analogue and digital electronic systems using ARM-based microcontrollers and modern communication protocols.
- Applying simulation, analysis and practical experimentation to solve complex technical challenges.
- Making key technical decisions around architecture, performance, manufacturability and compliance.
- Providing technical leadership across project teams and mentoring other engineers.
- Contributing to project planning, proposal writing, specification development and client presentations.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
About You
You're passionate about electronics, science and technology and enjoy applying electronics and physical first principles engineering to solve complex problems. You'll be equally comfortable working independently and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, and you'll enjoy the pace and variety that consultancy brings.
You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are motivated by the opportunity to create products that make a meaningful impact in healthcare and beyond.
Your Skills and Experience
Whilst you do not need to meet all of these points, please ensure you meet the majority before making an application.
Essential
- Experience with 32-bit ARM microcontrollers (e.g. STM32, nRF).
- Strong understanding of wired and wireless communication protocols including I2C, UART, SPI, Bluetooth LE, USB and Ethernet.
- Understanding of good PCB layout practices.
- Experience designing and testing for compliance requirements, including CE, FCC, EMC, radio and safety standards.
- Confidence presenting technical approaches and engineering decisions.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Degree (2:1 or above) in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of analogue circuit design principles.

For Senior Electronics Engineers
- In addition to the above, you'll bring experience leading technical workstreams, influencing key design decisions and supporting more junior engineers.
- You'll be comfortable balancing hands-on engineering with technical leadership responsibilities and helping teams deliver high-quality products.
Desirable
- Medical device development experience, including standards such as EN 60601.
- Experience developing products from concept through to design for manufacture.
- Experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience developing embedded software in C/C++.
- Experience with low-power circuit design.
- Experience conducting FMEAs
Salary
For these roles we are considering salaries of up to £50,000 (or up to £65,000 for Senior Engineers). As part of your application, we will ask you to state your desired salary. If you would like to discuss salary expectations in more detail, please reach out.
