Who We Are Looking For

Agency Lending Electronic Trading connects one of the industry’s largest pools of institutional lending supply with borrower demand. We enable low-touch trading across venues and bilateral channels, develop quantitative models to price and manage our book, and design user-facing platforms for controlling automated strategies. This work directly supports State Street’s purpose of creating better outcomes for the world’s investors and the people they serve.

Our vision is to be the world’s most connected, seamless, and intelligent lender, shaping the future of securities finance through technology-enabled trading and data-driven strategies that efficiently mobilize client assets. We also help modernize the industry by promoting standards, best practices, and emerging technologies through active participation in working groups and committees.

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President to join the team. The role may be based at our corporate headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, or our London office, with an onsite requirement of four days per week.

Why This Role Is Important To Us

You will join State Street Markets (SSM), our investment research and trading business. Institutional asset owners and managers rely on SSM for research, trading, securities lending, and innovative portfolio strategies. Our primary goal is to enhance and preserve client portfolio value by applying technology, optimizing trading, and connecting asset classes and markets worldwide.

Join us if you are ready to make an immediate impact in the capital markets industry.

What You Will Be Responsible For

As a strategist on the Agency Lending Electronic Trading team, you will design and execute quantitative securities finance strategies that generate revenue for clients and the firm. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop algorithms and models to price and manage a global inventory of lendable securities, including equities, corporate bonds, and sovereign, supranational, and agency debt.
  • Design robust automated trading solutions, including core systems and user interfaces for monitoring and control.
  • Build analytics that inform manual and automated decisions throughout pre-trade, execution, and lifecycle management.
  • Apply programming and quantitative skills to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of electronic trading activity.
  • Lead the development of reusable tools for quantitative research and strategy creation.
  • Integrate the lending program with new electronic trading venues while expanding capabilities on existing venues and proprietary access channels.
  • Manage daily desk operations, including system monitoring, production diagnostics, pricing and inventory management configuration, new electronic relationship setup, and support for voice traders and external counterparties.
  • Collaborate with the Research division to translate academic theory into practical trading solutions.
  • Serve as Product Owner for electronic trading, partnering with Global Technology Services to deliver new strategies, market integrations, and automated trading system features.
  • Build deep expertise in global securities finance—including securities lending, repurchase agreements, and swaps—with emphasis on market structure, technology providers, regulation, trading, and financial resource management.
  • Partner with Agency Lending Voice Trading to align voice and electronic trading activities.
  • Uphold State Street policies, standards, and guidelines for Model Risk Management, Algorithmic Trading, and End-User Developed Tools (EUDTs), demonstrating Risk Excellence in all activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
