Location: Peterborough (Fully Onsite)

Pay Rate: GBP 20.22 / hour

Position Type: 12-Month Contract (Likely to extend)

Working Hours: Mon-Thu 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Fri 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM

About The Role

We are looking for a practical, hands-on Electronics and Instrumentation Technician to join a collaborative 11-person team. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining team capacity across a high variety of workstreams. You'll be involved in everything from calibration and preventative maintenance to breakdown repairs and project support.

This position offers a strong learning curve with direct exposure to multiple disciplines across electronics, instrumentation, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and breakdown repairs on precision instrumentation and control systems.
  • Assemble, wire, and upgrade instrumentation panels to specified standards.
  • Execute Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) routines and carry out electronic troubleshooting.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Assist with the setup and hands-on execution of ongoing facility projects.
  • Use basic Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and tracking work progress.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications And Experience

  • A Level 3 Apprenticeship (Electrical/Electronics bias) OR strong hands-on industry experience. (An HNC is a plus, but practical capability is key).
  • Experience with calibration, panel building/wiring, and test facilities.
  • Strong background in precision electronics/instrumentation (experience in aerospace or ex-military environments is highly desirable).

Key Skills

  • Solid understanding of wiring regulations and cable selection standards.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work to standard work instructions and strictly adhere to Health and Safety standards.
