Analogue Electronics Design Engineer
Location: Gloucestershire
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 DOE
Permanent | Full-time | Monday–Friday
BMR Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Analogue Electronics Design Engineer to join an established specialist engineering business developing high-performance electronic products.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with genuine depth in analogue electronics who enjoys the complete design process – developing circuits, building and testing prototypes, solving problems at component level and ultimately seeing their designs introduced into manufacture.
The position offers considerable technical ownership, working on both new product development and the continued development of established product ranges.
The Role
Working within a multidisciplinary Engineering and R&D environment, you will be responsible for analogue electronic design from initial concept through to production.
Responsibilities will include:
- Analogue circuit design and development
- Schematic capture and PCB design/layout
- Development of new products and existing product ranges
- Prototype build, bench testing and component-level debugging
- Component selection and BOM creation
- SPICE simulation and circuit analysis
- Power supply and power amplification design
- Development of test jigs and production test procedures
- Design feasibility studies, peer reviews and architecture reviews
- Supporting EMC/EMI and product safety compliance
- Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT)
- Supporting new products through introduction into manufacture
- Root-cause analysis of development, production and field issues
- Liaising with suppliers, contract manufacturers and external test houses
- Producing schematics, test plans, design reports and associated technical documentation

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role. You should be equally comfortable developing a circuit at your desk and working at the bench with oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters and other electronic test equipment.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer with a strong background in analogue circuit design.
Your experience is likely to include a combination of:
- Operational amplifiers and discrete analogue circuit design
- Low-noise analogue circuitry
- Filter and signal conditioning circuit design
- Power amplifier and output-stage design
- Power supplies and power electronics
- Balanced input and signal stages
- MOSFET-based circuit design
- Boost/Buck switched-mode regulators
- Signal integrity
- Frequency response and distortion analysis
- SPICE simulation and analysis
- SMT design and PCB layout
You should have strong practical electronics skills and be comfortable building prototypes, testing circuits, diagnosing problems and debugging down to component level.
Experience with PCB design/CAD packages such as Altium Designer, KiCad, PADS Pro or OrCAD would be relevant, particularly where you have taken your own designs through PCB development and into manufacture.
The successful candidate will be capable of managing their own design workload with minimal supervision while working closely with other engineering disciplines, production, purchasing and external suppliers.
Experience Required
Candidates should ideally be able to demonstrate:
- Approximately five years or more commercial electronic circuit design experience
- Strong analogue electronics design capability
- Hands-on prototype development and testing
- PCB design/layout experience
- Component selection and circuit optimisation
- Experience taking electronic products from development into production
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI and relevant product safety considerations
- Ability to interpret component datasheets, application notes and technical standards
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

A degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not essential where candidates can demonstrate the required commercial design experience.
The Opportunity
This role will suit an engineer who wants to remain technically hands-on and have meaningful involvement throughout the complete product lifecycle.
You will have the opportunity to influence circuit design, PCB development, prototypes, testing, manufacturing introduction and subsequent product improvement rather than working on one isolated element of a larger engineering programme.
It is particularly suited to somebody who enjoys solving challenging analogue design problems and wants a position where strong fundamental electronics knowledge is valued.
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 depending on experience.
