We are recruiting for an innovative UK engineering and technology business looking to strengthen its R&D team with an experienced Electronics & Embedded Software Engineer.

This is a hands-on position combining electronics, embedded software, PCB design, and motor control, offering the opportunity to work across the complete product lifecycle โ€” from initial concept and development through to testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

Youโ€™ll work closely with senior engineering colleagues on both existing technology and the development of new products. ๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • ๐Ÿ”Œ Designing schematics and PCB layouts for electronic assemblies
  • ๐Ÿ’ป Designing, developing, and testing embedded software
  • ๐Ÿš€ Developing new products and improving existing systems
  • ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿ’ป Programming primarily in C/C++
  • โš™๏ธ Working with embedded electronic and control systems
  • ๐Ÿ”„ Supporting motor control and motor drive development
  • ๐Ÿ“‹ Producing BOMs and supporting component selection, sourcing, and procurement
  • ๐Ÿค Working closely with mechanical, design, and wider engineering teams
  • ๐Ÿ“ Creating and maintaining technical and design documentation
  • ๐Ÿงช Testing, diagnosing, and fault-finding electronic systems
  • โš ๏ธ Carrying out safety and risk assessments
  • ๐Ÿ’ก Translating technical and commercial requirements into practical electronic solutions

๐ŸŽฏ What Weโ€™re Looking For

We are looking for someone with:

  • ๐ŸŽ“ 5+ years' experience within electronics, embedded systems, or a closely related engineering role
  • ๐ŸŽ“ Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related technical discipline
  • ๐Ÿ’ป Strong C/C++ programming experience
  • ๐Ÿ”ง Experience with embedded software and electronics development
  • ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Experience using EDA/PCB design packages such as Altium Designer, Cadence, or OrCAD
  • ๐Ÿ”Œ Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and electronic simulation
  • โš™๏ธ Motor drive experience โ€“ essential
  • ๐Ÿ”„ Brushless DC motor experience would be particularly advantageous
  • ๐Ÿ“ก Experience with wireless technologies such as Bluetooth and GNSS
  • ๐Ÿง  Experience designing and maintaining embedded control systems
  • ๐Ÿงช Strong hands-on ability with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, data loggers/analysers, and other electronic test equipment
  • ๐Ÿ“ Ability to read circuit diagrams, PCB schematics, and technical drawings
  • ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Strong electronic fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • ๐Ÿค Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
