Electronics Engineer – Design and Verification

What You’ll Accomplish
- Lead the testing of integrated electronic circuits and/or subsystems as a core responsibility.
- Design, build, and verify analogue and digital electronics solutions using CAD packages and test equipment.
- Write detailed documentation for circuits and verification tests.
- Expand expertise across a range of electronics engineering disciplines.
- Collaborate multidisciplinarily with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists.
- Play a critical role in developing test systems for quantum computers.
- Ensure state-of-the-art electronics solutions align with UQ’s technological leadership.
- Assist in project planning, scheduling, and risk management, while maintaining clear progress reporting.
- Contribute to rapid prototyping of concepts and feasibility discussions.
- Develop a strong understanding of firmware and software control systems for quantum computers.

Key Attributes We Evaluate
The following are the three most critical factors we consider:
- Proven electronics/verification experience.
- Hands-on experience in developing complex systems from concept to delivery.
- Strong PCB schematic/layouts, manufacturing process knowledge, and verification/debugging skills.
Minimum Requirements (Must-Have Skills)
- 10+ years of hands-on electronics design experience.
- Experience in developing and executing test plans for complex systems.
- Analogue design expertise.
- PCB design knowledge.
- Experience with low-noise design approaches.
- History of engaging suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrated rigour in thorough documentation.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication.
- Qualification: At least a 2.1 degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
Nice-to-Have (Desirable Skills)
- Background in system engineering, research, metrology, or instrumentation.
- Knowledge of signal integrity, high-speed digital, and EMC.
- Experience with C, Python, or MATLAB scripting.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW.
- Pragmatic decision-making approach.
- Project/team management experience.
