Electronics Engineer
An established technology business is looking for an Electronics Engineer to support the development and production of advanced robotic systems. Based in Cambridge, this role offers the opportunity to take existing prototype designs through to manufacture while contributing to the next generation of autonomous robotics.
You will take ownership of electronics design, working across schematic capture, PCB design and system architecture. The role would suit an engineer with experience in automation, machinery, robotics or a consultancy environment who enjoys solving technical problems and seeing designs progress into production.
Typical Duties
- Lead schematic capture, PCB design and electronics system architecture using Altium.
- Develop existing prototype designs for manufacture, including component selection, cost reduction and reliability improvements.
- Design and test electronic systems involving motors, actuators, sensors, power circuitry and communication interfaces.
- Support machinery safety, EMC compliance, verification and validation testing.
- Work closely with mechanical, software and wider engineering teams to develop new products and resolve PCB and system-level issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
