Electronics Engineering Team Lead
The Electronics Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading, developing, and driving the performance of the Electronics Test Team to deliver high-quality verification, validation, reliability, and failure analysis activities across the full product lifecycle, from concept development through to volume manufacture and sustaining engineering.
The Electronics Engineering Team Lead is accountable for ensuring that products are thoroughly verified and validated against requirements, risks are identified and mitigated, and robust test strategies are implemented to support business objectives.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop the Electronics Test Team to achieve business and engineering objectives.
- Set clear expectations, objectives, and performance standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and development activities.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and skills development.
- Ensure the team has the capability and capacity to meet current and future business needs.
Planning & Delivery
- Plan, prioritise, and deliver verification, validation, reliability, and failure analysis activities.
- Manage project schedules, resources, risks, and dependencies using Agile methodologies, Jira, and MS Project.
- Ensure test readiness and delivery milestones are achieved.
- Provide accurate reporting, forecasting, and escalation of programme issues.
Test Strategy & Governance
- Define and maintain verification, validation, and test governance processes.
- Review and approve test plans, procedures, acceptance criteria, and reports.
- Ensure appropriate test coverage, traceability, and risk-based verification.
- Drive consistency, standardisation, and best practices across all test activities.
Quality, Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Own and improve KPIs relating to quality, reliability, delivery, productivity, and manufacturing yield.
- Develop performance reporting and dashboard metrics.
- Drive process improvements through data analysis, lessons learned, and engineering best practice.
- Ensure compliance with engineering, quality, and documentation standards.

Test Capability & Product Support
- Define test strategies across the product lifecycle.
- Maintain effective test infrastructure, equipment, tools, and automation capabilities.
- Support manufacturing through diagnostics, yield improvement, and test optimisation.
- Ensure robust, scalable test solutions are implemented for new products.
Reliability Engineering & Risk Management
- Lead reliability testing, qualification, and risk assessment activities.
- Apply reliability engineering principles throughout product development.
- Lead FMEA, root cause investigations, and corrective action processes.
- Drive reduction of recurring issues through structured problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Design, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams.
- Support product introduction, qualification, issue resolution, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership during customer, supplier, and internal investigations.
- Influence business and engineering decisions through data-driven analysis and KPI reporting.
- Foster collaboration to achieve successful delivery, quality, and reliability outcomes.
Your profile
- Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience leading and managing Electronics Test, Verification, Validation, or Reliability Engineering teams with full delivery ownership.
- Strong technical expertise in electronic test methodologies, verification, validation, reliability testing, and failure analysis.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex products from concept through qualification, production release, and volume manufacture.
- Experience working within Agile or hybrid development environments using Jira and MS Project.
- Strong planning, resource management, and prioritisation skills across multiple projects and competing business demands.
- Proven experience defining, tracking, and improving KPIs relating to quality, delivery, reliability, yield, and test effectiveness.
- Demonstrated experience driving accountability, performance, and continuous improvement within engineering teams.
- Experience developing and reviewing test plans, test procedures, qualification plans, and acceptance criteria.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory test equipment, automation tools, and production test environments.
- Experience supporting manufacturing through yield improvement, diagnostics, and production issue resolution.
- Experience conducting structured root cause investigations and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Experience applying Reliability Engineering methodologies including MTBF, HTOL, HASS, HALT, and environmental testing.
- Experience participating in or leading FMEA activities at system, subsystem, and board level.
- Strong understanding of Design for Test (DFT), Design Verification, and Product Qualification methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality management systems, engineering change processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineers and technicians to achieve defined objectives and performance targets.
- Proven ability to manage technical risk, escalate issues appropriately, and deliver results in a fast-paced engineering environment.
