Electronics Requirement Manager

Location: Cheadle, UK (occasional travel to customer sites in the South West)
Employment Type: Permanent
Security Clearance: Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC)

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Electronics Requirement Manager to join our UK engineering team. This role will initially support a long-term defence programme within a highly regulated environment, with future opportunities to contribute across Akkodis' wider defence and technology portfolio.

You will be responsible for the specification, design, development, testing, qualification, and integration of complex electronic and electrical systems. Projects include high-performance processing, storage, networking, security, data communication, and power distribution solutions deployed in demanding naval environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver hardware requirements through design, development, testing, and implementation activities.
  • Define and execute hardware test specifications, EMC testing, and environmental qualification activities.
  • Generate verification and validation evidence and maintain compliance within requirements management tools such as DOORS.
  • Produce test reports, certification documentation, and technical evidence.
  • Support manufacturing and procurement teams during production and implementation phases.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on CE/UKCA marking, EMC, environmental compliance, RoHS, REACH, and Low Voltage Directive requirements.
  • Provide support during integration, installation, acceptance, and trial activities.
  • Contribute to project planning, sprint activities, and progress reporting using tools such as Jira.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business growth through technical input to bids and estimates.

Essential Experience

  • Strong background in electronic, electrical, and electromechanical design within regulated industries.
  • Experience across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture through design, implementation, and testing.
  • Experience integrating COTS and bespoke equipment within 19-inch rack and cabinet solutions.
  • Knowledge of wiring harnesses, fibre and electrical interconnections, power distribution systems, and data communications.
  • Experience delivering designs compliant with CE/UKCA requirements, RoHS, REACH, and the Low Voltage Directive.
  • Strong requirements management and technical documentation skills.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Digital and analogue circuit design, simulation, development, debugging, and testing.
  • Mixed-signal and audio circuit design.
  • Power electronics and low-voltage power systems.
  • Experience with interfaces including Ethernet, PCI, RS232/485, SPI, I2C, and I2S.
  • PCB specification development and cable/harness design.
  • Experience designing to EMC and environmental standards.
  • Degree-level understanding of Electronic or Electrical Engineering.

Desirable Experience

  • Defence, naval, maritime, or military programme experience.
  • Familiarity with IEC 60297, DEF STAN 08-107, and DEF STAN 59-411 standards.
  • Experience with Allegro Design Entry HLD, Zuken E3, DOORS, Jira, LabVIEW, and PLM systems.
  • Knowledge of firmware development, programmable logic, networking, industrial interfaces, reliability engineering, and environmental testing.
  • Programming experience in C, C++, Python, Perl, TCL/Tk, or Bash.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
