Med-Lab - Electronics Service Technician
Med-Lab is a successful distribution business based in Derby and has been trading since 1954. We are part of the Aerovac Composites One group of companies. Med-Lab’s Overhaul Material department supplies consumable materials primarily for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of aero engines, including Rolls-Royce. Our Petrochemical department supplies and supports a range of instruments used for testing petroleum products including aviation kerosene, diesel and various heavy fuels and oils. www.med-lab.co.uk https://www.compositesone.com/
Responsibilities:
- Calibration and repair of analytical lab instruments used in the testing of aviation fuels, flavour and fragrances.
- Conduct preventive maintenance checks, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Provide support to customers on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instruments.
- Support customers with remote troubleshooting and diagnostic queries ahead of instruments being returned for repair.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, admin, and technical support.
- Provide technical input into costing and estimates for repair and service quotations.
- Identify and flag trade-in opportunities to the sales team when evaluating older equipment during service of repair work.
- Document service activities, including maintenance reports, service records, calibration certificates, and customer communication.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards while adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience in an Engineering or Chemistry related environment.
- Experience with electronics in analytical instruments would be desirable.
- Strong "hands-on" skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair lab instrumentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams.

As an Electronics Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support and maintenance services for a range of analytical lab instruments used in the testing and verification of aviation fuels, flavours, and fragrances. This role is a workshop-based role at our site in Derby.
