Electronics Team Lead
Location: North Devon
Salary: Up to £67,000 DOE
Working Pattern: Hybrid / Flexible Working
The Opportunity
We are working with an innovative engineering business operating within the defence and advanced technology sector, who are looking for an experienced Electronics Team Lead to join their growing engineering function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electronics engineer who is ready to take the next step into a technical leadership role, combining hands-on electronics design with team leadership, mentoring, and project delivery.
You will play a key role in the development of complex products from initial concept and design through to manufacture, installation, and in-service support.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead electrical and electronic design activities across the full product lifecycle.
- Provide technical expertise across analogue and digital electronics, PCB design, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Ensure engineering projects are delivered to agreed cost, time, quality, and technical requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and support engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Take responsibility for team resource planning, development, and allocation of engineering activities.
- Support recruitment and contribute to building and developing a high-performing engineering team.
- Work closely with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ensure designs meet relevant requirements, verification, and validation processes, and applicable industry standards.
- Contribute to bids, tenders, and technical proposals, including engineering estimates.
- Support manufacturing, installation, and ongoing product service requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and contribute to the development of engineering processes and standards.
- Promote a strong culture around engineering excellence, safety, quality, and innovation.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics engineering, combined with experience leading or mentoring engineers.
- Strong experience in electronics design and development across the full product lifecycle.
- Knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Experience with PCB design/layout, ideally using Altium or a similar tool.
- Understanding of electro-mechanical systems.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, or managing engineers.
- Knowledge of verification and validation, configuration management, and relevant IPC/industry standards.
- Experience contributing to bids, proposals, or engineering estimates.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
- A proactive approach to process improvement and engineering best practice.
