Career Opportunity: Electronics Test & Development Engineer - Open only to Full UK Citizens Living & Working in the UK

I am looking for an electronics engineer for a specialist semiconductor device test house based in Hampshire — This requirement is less about finding someone with every skill already on their CV and more about finding the right mind and ability.

You may have just completed an Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree, or you may already have a few years in electronics. What matters is that you are highly intelligent, numerate, diligent and genuinely curious about how electronics works. This is a device test environment, so if you have interest and/or experience in PCB design, Power supply design, testing of semiconductor devices, using Automated Test Equipment, writing software programs, that would be advantageous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Perhaps you have built a radio, audio amplifier, PCB, power supply, or embedded project because you wanted to see whether you could. Perhaps you enjoy using an oscilloscope to understand why a circuit is behaving differently from the theory. That evidence of curiosity matters here.

You will work alongside and learn from excellent electronics professionals, including the test engineer that joined the company last year and would be a close technical mentor. Specialist semiconductor test methods can be taught; strong principles, practical curiosity and the desire to learn cannot.

The essentials are a 2:1 or First in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related subject, strong Mathematics results, a full UK driving licence and the ability to work in the office on a daily basis. Salary is flexible depending upon evidence and experience. No sponsorship is available, so applicants must already have permanent, unrestricted UK right to work.
