Job Title: Electronics Test Engineer
Location: Rugeley
Salary: £DOE
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on fault finding, testing and demonstrating electrical and electronic equipment used across MOD and commercial applications.
You will work closely with Engineering and Operations to identify and resolve technical issues, develop effective test solutions and ensure products meet the required quality, performance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Test electrical and electronic assemblies and equipment to MOD and commercial standards.
- Carry out fault finding, investigation and rectification of technical issues.
- Develop test fixtures, rigs and procedures in collaboration with Engineering.
- Produce accurate documentary evidence and test records.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations to resolve issues and support production.
- Liaise with Engineering regarding design changes, modifications and rectification.
- Demonstrate equipment performance to customers and customer representatives.
- Ensure all testing is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Adhere to Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.
- Support continuous improvement activities, including 5S and waste elimination.
- Complete work within agreed timescales and costing guidelines.
- Travel occasionally to alternative UK and overseas locations for testing and customer activities.
- Support additional hours, weekends or out-of-hours work when required to meet customer requirements.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is practical, technically minded and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Experience or understanding of electrical/electronic testing.
- Awareness of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive approach to fault finding and problem solving.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
- Awareness of ESD requirements.
- Understanding of 5S and continuous improvement principles.
- Competent using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English, or equivalent.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 qualification or equivalent.
- Low-voltage electrical training.
- Full UK driving licence.

Desirable
- Apprentice-trained in electrical/electronic engineering.
- HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Working towards an HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Experience using ERP systems such as IFS.
- Additional experience working to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Experience within a defence, maritime, manufacturing or regulated engineering environment.
